Working principle of partial discharge tester

The partial discharge tester has a wide range of applications, high detection sensitivity and accuracy. Under proper calibration, it is a very practical device to directly read the discharge volume of the discharge pulse.


The principle of the detector is a high-frequency pulse current measurement method. When a partial discharge is generated under the test voltage, the pulse signal of the partial discharge detector will be discharged through the coupling capacitor and sent to the input unit, and then the pulse can be obtained through the input unit. The pickup is amplified by a low-noise amplifier to amplify the pulse signal.

Select the desired frequency band in the filter amplifier, and after the main amplifier amplifies the effect. The required pair of value and zero mark pulse is reached, and the peak value can also be displayed.


The unit of the time window controls the test voltage and displays the working time of the pulse peak meter every week. During this time, the corresponding display area can also be highlighted on the oscilloscope screen to eliminate the interference of the fixed phase. The test voltmeter is divided by the capacitance. After the voltmeter, a zero-crossing signal of the test voltage is generated, which can display the zero standard pulse on the oscilloscope screen, and the test voltage is indicated by a digital voltmeter.


The principle of the partial discharge tester is very complicated. When using the instrument, it must be operated in accordance with the specifications, and daily maintenance and maintenance work must be carried out. If an abnormality is found, it should be dealt with in time to avoid affecting normal operation.
