When the discharge occurs inside the switchgear, sound waves are generated. Its spectrum is so wide that some people need sound waves above its frequency to be able to hear them.

2. Ground wave detection method: In the case of partial insulation of the switch cabinet, if a part of it falls off and there is a high voltage area between the conductor metal shell, there is a certain capacity of discharge. The capacity is small, the duration is short, and the discharge point is also inside the switch cabinet, so it is electromagnetic wave generated by voltage pulse. Spread over the surface of the metal casing and will be blocked by the casing. If the shielding layer is continuous, it cannot be detected by external discharge signals. In fact, in some places, the shielding layer may be discontinuous, as it may cause damage. If it is not continuous, a partial discharge detector is used to detect the fault.
