Trouble phenomenon of dry-type test transformer

Transformers are indispensable for the long-term success of any operation. Therefore, it is very important to proactively replace the transformer. Generally, high-quality transformers should be used for ten years, but generally, lower-quality transformers will fail before that. A transformer failure can cost a lot of time and money. Please evaluate your dry-type test transformer and pay attention to any warning signs in it. If your dry-type test transformer exhibits any of these problems, it is time to replace it.

1. The noise of the dry-type test transformer is abnormally noisy

Don't ignore the interesting noise from the transformer. If the sound is louder than normal, please call a specialist to evaluate his health. The pitch or other noise changes in pitch may also be a distress signal. Literally listen to your transformer, because it may tell you when it fails.

2. Vibration changes of dry-type test transformers

Dry test transformers will vibrate naturally, but if they become very shaken, it may indicate that its parts are beginning to wear. The anti-vibration rubber pads of the dry-type test transformer are located under the front and rear slides. Over time, they will gradually wear out and will no longer provide any cushioning or shock absorption. In addition to indicating that the transformer is aging, additional vibration may damage other parts of the transformer.

3. Change of insulation color of dry-type test transformer

The color of the dry-type test transformer insulation can help you fully understand its overall health. Heat is one of the most common phenomena that damage transformers. When the dry-type test transformer is running hot for a long time, it will affect the color of the insulation and make it darker than the new transformer. You can evaluate the insulation color of the transformer by looking at the outer and inner parts of the winding near the top. As the hot air rises, the top of the coil looks more discolored than the bottom. If the contrast between the bottom and top of the coil is obvious, it means that your transformer has been handling too much heat for a long time.

4. Signs of rising tide of dry-type test transformer

The surge may cause obvious damage to the dry-type test transformer, but may also leave more subtle damage, which may lead to line failure. If the coil position of your dry-type test transformer has changed (for example, the displacement or rotation of the plastic block or pressure plate), your equipment has experienced a surge and should be evaluated by a transformer professional.
