However, if electrical equipment exists in a local discharge field for a long time under operating voltage, its weak discharge energy and some adverse effects, such as the generation of harmful compounds, will gradually damage the insulation, accumulate for a long time, and eventually lead to the breakdown of the entire insulation, resulting in sudden electrical equipment accidents. That is to say, an electrical equipment with inherent weaknesses, although it has passed the factory and acceptance voltage tests, may experience voltage breakdown during normal operation over a long period of time. Therefore, it is important for manufacturers and operating units to detect partial discharge inside the insulation of the equipment.
IEC and national standards specify the detection methods and discharge capacity indicators for partial discharge. When partial discharge occurs in a medium, many parts will appear. Some belong to electricity, such as the generation of electrical pulses, the increase in dielectric loss, and electromagnetic radiation; Some rooms lack electrical components such as light, heat, noise, gas pressure changes, and chemical changes, which can be used to determine the presence of partial discharge.
