Technical Problem of Circuit Breaker Tester

time:2020/11/29   source:华天电力  reading:933 time

1. When the on-site instrument is used to control closing and opening operations, the switch does not act

1. On-site closing and opening control wiring is incorrect or there is a problem with the control circuit

Solution: Find the control wiring diagram of the on-site control cabinet, and ask the relevant protection professionals to find out the closing and opening coils and the auxiliary contacts of the switch respectively. Refer to the control wiring diagram and instructions in Appendix 2 of this manual to re-wire. Check the control circuit to ensure that the circuit is unblocked.

2. The instrument prompts "output short circuit or excessive load, please turn off and check the control wiring"

(1) The control wiring is wrong, which causes the output of the instrument to be short-circuited, which causes the short-circuit protection function to be activated, and the instrument has no output from the “close and open control power supply”.

Solution: After shutting down, please refer to the above item 1 to recheck the wiring.

(2) The field coil load is too large and the instrument cannot be driven normally

Solution: ①For the switch of the electromagnetic mechanism, the drive current required by the switch closing coil is very large (up to 100A or several hundred amperes), and the large load capacity of the operating power supply of the instrument is 20A. The load is too large and the instrument cannot be driven normally.

In the field, the closing control line is generally connected to the closing contactor coil of the previous stage of the closing coil, the switch contactor is controlled to close by the instrument, and the contactor is used to drive the switch closing coil to make the switch act. Or use the "external trigger" method to close the switch.

②For the switch of hydraulic and spring mechanism, because the instrument has an output current greater than 6A, it defaults to "excessive load". Please take a look or use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the closing coil to confirm that the closing coil current is large. Then please check the wiring carefully, confirm that the closing output is not short-circuited, and then cancel the short-circuit protection function of the instrument for testing. (Note: After the instrument's short-circuit protection function is cancelled, the output of "closed and open control power supply" will not have the protection function. If the control power supply output is indeed short-circuited at this time, it may cause damage to the instrument control power supply! Please operate with caution )

The specific method is: power off → press and hold the button → power on until the "release button" screen prompt appears → release the button, the short circuit protection function is cancelled.

Note: As long as the instrument is shut down or reset, the short-circuit protection function will restart.

3. Check whether the operating power supply of the instrument has a DC output

Use a multimeter to check the voltage of the operating power provided inside the instrument (refer to item ⑨ of 5.1.1 in this manual). If the voltage output is normal, perform other checks; if there is no voltage output, then

(1) The fuse on the operation control line is burned or the control line is damaged.

Solution: Replace with a new fuse or reconnect the control line.

(2) The internal power supply of the instrument is damaged

Solution: Use the on-site switch cabinet to operate the power supply, and use the "external trigger" method for operation. (Refer to section 6.2.② of this manual for operation introduction) At the same time, notify the company to return to the factory for repair or provide a spare machine.

4. The switch mechanism has protection lockout (such as Siemens, ABB switch)

Solution: ①Use the internal power supply provided by the instrument to operate the switch for closing and opening tests, and the lock must be released. Please on-site technicians or switch manufacturers to assist in releasing the lock according to the control wiring diagram of the on-site control cabinet.

② Use the on-site power supply and use the "external trigger" method to test.

2. When the instrument performs single-on and single-point tests, the switch is activated, but no data is displayed

1. The ground wire is not completely connected

Solution: Check the ground wire carefully and tighten the ground wire again.

2. The resistance of the closing coil or the opening coil is too large, so that the load is too small (generally, when the coil current is less than 1A, this situation is prone to occur), which makes the instrument trigger in advance and no data is collected.

Solution: Cancel the short-circuit protection function and test again. (For details, please refer to Article 2②How to cancel the short-circuit protection function)

3. If data cannot be output during closing, the closing control circuit is damaged. If data cannot be output during opening, the opening control circuit is damaged.

Solution: Temporarily test the power control channel that is good on site. If no data is available during closing, use the opening channel to test the closing. The method is to connect the opening control lines (green and black wires) to the closing coil and use the opening control to operate the switch closing test process. After the on-site test is completed, return to the factory for repair or notify the company to provide a spare machine.

3. When the instrument is performing single-closing test, the switch is closed and immediately separated.

1. There is a problem with the switch control circuit

Solution: Check the switch control circuit carefully and eliminate the fault.

2. The closing control channel is damaged

Solution: Take off the opening control line and use only the closing control channel for the test (see the second and third treatment methods for details), and return to the factory for repair after the test is completed.

Fourth, the printer can feed paper but cannot print text and graphics

1. The printing paper is installed upside down

Solution: Reinstall the thermal printing paper correctly.

2. The heating head of the thermal printer is broken

Solution: Return to the factory to repair the heating head of the thermal printer.

5. When the instrument is performing a speed test, the test result shows a full screen of vertical stripes

The sensor selection item is wrong (for example, the general-purpose sensor uses straight line or rotation, and the straight line or rotation uses general option).

Solution: reset the sensor selection.
