Principle analysis of insulation resistance tester

Insulation resistance refers to the resistance between two parts of a conductor separated by an insulating material. Insulation resistance tester is used to measure insulation resistance. In order to ensure the safe operation of electrical equipment, low ZUI requirements are proposed for insulation resistance between conductors of different polarity (different phases) or between conductors and shells. The factors affecting insulation resistance measurement include temperature, humidity, measuring voltage and acting time, residual charge in winding and insulation surface condition. By measuring the insulation resistance of electrical equipment, the following objectives can be achieved:

(1) Understand the insulation performance of the insulation structure. A reasonable insulation structure (or insulation system) consisting of high-quality insulation materials shall have good insulation performance and high insulation resistance;

(2) Understand the insulation quality of electrical products. Poor electrical insulation products processing, its insulation performance will be significantly reduced;

(3) To understand the humidity and pollution of insulation materials. When the insulation of electrical equipment is damp and polluted, the insulation resistance is usually significantly reduced.

(4) Check whether the insulation can withstand the pressure test. If the electrical equipment insulation resistance is below a certain threshold voltage withstand test, a larger test current will be generated, resulting in thermal breakdown, damaging the insulation of the electrical equipment. Therefore, various test standards require that insulation resistance be measured prior to voltage resistance testing.

It can be seen that the insulation resistance is usually sensitive to reflect the size of the insulation and can effectively find that the equipment is usually affected with moisture, where the moisture is seriously affected with moisture, moisture and penetration defects. Therefore, measuring insulation resistance is one of the important means to understand the insulation status of equipment and is an indispensable part of insulation preventive test.
